James, our Head Chef, and his team go the extra mile every day to make special memories for our patients at the end of life. We need your support to help James continue to offer comforting meals when people need them most. Personalised Meals Here at Trinity our meals are as personalised as our care. Whether it’s a Halal, gluten free or vegan diet, James caters to every patient’s needs, at any time of day. Sameena, whose mother was cared for at the hospice, said, "During her stay James tried so hard to find something that Mum would really like to eat. He made Mum feel that making her dinner was the most important thing that he was doing that day." Read more about the difference Trinity made to Sameena and her family. Going the Extra Mile Head Chef James and his team have swiftly turned around a two-tiered wedding cake, for a patient who got married in the hospice at very short notice. He has even cooked meals including calamari, lobster and suckling pig at the request of patients who wanted to eat their favourite dish just one last time. James says, "I like to take the time to chat to our patients. Sometimes I might need to encourage them or gauge what they might like to eat when they aren’t well enough to decide.” Seasonal Ingredients James prepares three meals a day for up to 28 patients staying in the inpatient unit. His menu evolves throughout the seasons, using home-grown herbs and fruit from our award-winning gardens. James said, "I think it’s important to help people to enjoy food for as long as they can. It’s a really great thing if we are able to help make special memories for patients and their families.” Read James' blog to find out more about what it's like to be a chef at Trinity.
