"My name is Koren and I have been an Occupational Therapist at Trinity for three years. I focus on improving our patients’ overall wellbeing by helping them with meaningful and purposeful activities with our garden.

Studies have shown that exposure to sunlight helps to improve energy levels, whilst bringing nature into daily life can reduce the effects of anxiety and depression. This is especially important in palliative care, where these feelings can be felt more acutely.

Our patients benefit from two garden groups at Trinity:

  • Gardening group: In this group, patients take part in gardening activities as a way to improve wellbeing and quality of life. The gardening and the friendships made in this group allow patients to live in the moment and take their mind away from what can be a difficult time.
  • Relaxation group: Patients use the garden to promote relaxation, the management of low moods and anxiety. The garden provides the perfect setting as the trickling of the water fountain and birdsong helps patients to unwind.

As many of our supporters know, our gardens are a great place for patients, families, and staff to sit together, unwind, and share their stories.

Please make a donation to support Trinity continue delivering outstanding care like this in our community. Any support you can give is deeply appreciated. Thank you.
