Key responsibilities

The Communications and Marketing Volunteer will support the wider team with a clear set of responsibilities. The team is based on site, 9-5, Monday-Friday and so will be able to provide support and guidance throughout volunteering hours.

The Communications and Marketing Volunteer role includes:

  • Assisting with transcribing and writing engaging patient, staff, supporter and volunteer stories to be featured on Trinity’s website and social media.

  • Taking photos of events, classes, people and the hospice building and gardens.

  • Leading on the organisation of the hospice’s digital photo bank.

  • Oversee stock, replenishment and distribution of Trinity’s printed materials in hospice stands and display boards, keeping up to date records and reporting required orders and updates back to wider team.

  • Assistance at internal hospice events such as garden parties and open evenings, and occasional external events such as health fairs.

Required skills and competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Basic photography skills

  • Highly organised, efficient and enthusiastic

  • Confident with computers, particularly Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel

  • Good writing abilities

  • Able to work independently and within a team

  • Discreet, empathetic and respectful communication style

  • Trustworthy and reliable

You will be asked to attend an induction and will receive ongoing training and support as necessary.

Mandatory Training

All volunteers must attend a full day induction and complete some mandatory online e-learning. The volunteer induction covers communication skills, boundaries, health & safety, confidentiality and all the necessary information you will need prior to undertaking the role.
