Mealtime Volunteer Trinity's inpatient centre provides skilled, compassionate care in a warm, welcoming and modern environment. We have 28 beds and provide a full menu of freshly prepared food for patients and their families. Mealtime volunteers work alongside the catering team to take orders and deliver meals to patients on the ward. Key responsibilities Trinity has two types of inpatient unit roles for volunteers: Ward volunteer and Mealtime volunteer. Both roles work to support clinical staff with a clear separation of responsibilities. Both roles will also require you to observe Trinity’s guidelines on infection control, confidentiality, and health and safety. Mealtime volunteers work alongside the catering assistants and: Prepare trays, deliver meals to patients and return trays to the kitchen Are expected to pass any issues or concerns about any patient immediately to the Catering Services Manager or clinical team Other support as requested by the Catering Services Manager which may include taking menu orders from patients Required skills and competencies Excellent interpersonal skills Well-organised and enthusiastic Experience of team working Discretion and tact, complete confidentiality Trustworthy and reliable What this role will offer you You will be making an important contribution to Trinity and to the thousands of people who use our services. In return, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills or learn new skills. You will be asked to attend an induction and will receive ongoing training as necessary. Mandatory Training All volunteers must attend a full day induction and complete four hours online e-learning. The volunteer induction covers communication skills, boundaries, health & safety, food hygiene, confidentiality and all the necessary information a volunteer needs prior to undertaking their role. The above training takes place around every 6 weeks and once this has been completed volunteers can then work towards a start date for their role. Other information This role will require a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Check All volunteers receive a Volunteer handbook which sets out Trinity’s relationship and way of working with volunteers. This includes key policies and procedures. Trinity are looking to recruit additional mealtime volunteers and at present we have availability on the following shifts: Tuesday Lunchtimes 12pm-2pm Friday evenings 5pm-7pm Interested?
