Hours: 37.5 per week

Salary: Royal Trinity Hospice Grade G (£39,183 - £41,582)

Royal Trinity Hospice is England’s oldest hospice with a fascinating history that dates back to 1891. The hospice cares for over 2300 people every year at its modern inpatient unit and across seven London boroughs. The Hospice receives just a quarter of its funding from the NHS, with Trinity having to raise another £9million a year to support its vital work.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior HR Advisor to support our small but aspiring and effective HR team. This role would suit an individual who wanted to progress in a small and friendly environment.

About the Role

In this key role, you will:

  • Provide support and deputise for the Director of Human Resources in the delivery of a proactive, effective and high quality Human Resource service.
  • Be responsible for and lead on employee relations issues in both Royal Trinity Hospice & Trinity Hospice Shops Ltd.
  • Be the principal contact for employment policy advice to all managers and staff.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Human Resources, design and deliver manager briefing sessions based on the employee life cycle.
  • Be the lead HR representative for Staff involvement Committee (SIC) and Job Evaluation Panel (JEP).
  • Be responsible for overseeing the operational management of the resourcing function within HR on a day to day basis in order to provide an effective, efficient and customer focussed service which meets the changing needs of the Hospices’ managers and employees. 
  • Line manager the Human Resources Advisor (Recruitment) and assist in ensuring an effective and efficient recruitment service. 
  • Lead organisation wide work and projects as requested.

About You

                                                                                                                                                                           The successful candidate will:

  • Have significant experience in a HR advisory role preferably in either the charity, healthcare or retail sector
  • Have an excellent track record of successfully and sensitively resolving a wide variety of complex HR issues to appropriate resolution through the provision of sound professional advice
  • Possess up-to-date knowledge of employment law and HR best practice at an advanced level and extensive experience of casework management, including advising and note taking during formal proceedings (disciplinary, capability and grievance) and handling appeal procedures
  • Be experienced in recruitment and selection, including short-listing and interviewing candidates at a senior level
  • Be practiced in the supervision and line management of staff, giving constructive feedback on performance, devising and driving the achievement of objectives, and conducting appraisals
  • Be educated to degree level and CIPD qualified
  • As a person you will possess good judgement, sound decision making and the ability to influence. Have a high degree of attention to detail and ability to input and manage data accurately, amazing coordination and organisational skills, ability to build relationships quickly and effortlessly together with the ability to provide a high touch service
  • You will have a personable and approachable style in order to build relationships and communicate effectively with people at all levels – both verbally and in writing, the ability to draft complex professional policies and HR correspondence
  • We are looking for someone who is proactive, with the ability to add value and make a real difference. You will be team player and collaborative in your approach while retaining a clear vision of what you want to achieve
