"The day to day life of an Assistant Manager at Royal Trinity Hospice is an ever-changing, busy and exciting role. No one day is the same. Whether I’m covering one of our 31 shops to planning the day in my own shop, I have to be an excellent planner; great with people and physically fit.

You have to be the kind of person who is willing to go the extra mile to get the results needed to make money for the hospice.

My role is to I to support my Manager, however I open, plan and manage my shop as well as covering in our other fabulous shops across London where I will be in charge all day.

We receive fantastic donations, which means I lift and move these donation bags around and sort through them. I’m constantly on my feet so it can be physically demanding. Volunteers are key part of our business and recruiting them is very important. 

Planning the day with our wonderful team of volunteers is the key to a productive day and I can’t stress how important they are. 

I enjoy my role as an Assistant Manager as I’m always given the chance to bring in new ideas and experience to the business.

I also enjoy covering around the 31 stores with their unique characteristics. I like and appreciate how my Manager is supportive and is always encouraging me to come up with ideas on how we can improve our store so I always feel like I’m making a difference. 

Knowing that all our hard work goes towards helping people with life-limiting illness is very rewarding."
