Improving palliative care services - your feedback requested NHS Central London Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), in collaboration with West London, Hammersmith & Fulham and Brent CCGs have been looking into how they address the challenges faced by palliative care services in their local areas. This affects Trinity and our patients as part of our catchment area is in Hammersmith and Fulham, Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea. As commissioners and providers, they are in agreement that reaching only 48% of patients who may have a palliative care need is not good enough. It is paramount that specialist palliative care services are available to all patients who need it, regardless of their disease type. They are asking people to give their feedback in advance of them reviewing and re-designing their services, to make sure they reach more people, are better coordinated and are responsive in an emergency, no matter the time of day. How can you get involved? The NHS has proposed some potential scenarios that they would like to hear your views on them (the engagement period will last until Friday 13 March). Please follow the link to this involvement document and complete their survey in print or online on the proposed scenarios. Accessibility They want as many people as possible to share their views, so if you need this information in a different format like a printed or large print copy, easy read, audio recording or a translated version, please let them know what you require and they'll be happy to help. I want to get involved but would like more information around palliative care The topic of palliative care can at times seem daunting. The NHS has produced an information pack about palliative care which may help. Next steps? The results of this engagement period will be presented to NHS CCG governing bodies for consideration of the next steps. This is not a consultation period. Should any recommendations be classed as a ‘substantial’ change to the existing palliative care service by NHS governing bodies and associated NHS bodies, these changes will be subject to a public consultation.
