“You get that moment where you cross the threshold from inside that hectic space to being outside in this wonderful space” – the words of Trinity staff member starring in new film.

A new short feature film released this week features a member of Royal Trinity Hospice’s Therapies team in the picturesque setting of our gardens in late summer.

The film, entitled ‘The Power of Gardens’, sets out to tell the story of hospice gardens benefiting frontline staff working in healthcare, offering spaces of calm and restoration.

Trinity was selected by Hospice UK to collaborate on the film, which was made for the national charity, the National Garden Scheme and will be shared with their supporters. Since 1996, the National Garden Scheme has donated over £6.5 million to Hospice UK in support of hospice care.

The film tells the story of Rebekah Franklyn, a Senior Physiotherapist at Trinity, busy at work, taking her own moment to visit the garden. The footage captures her exploration of the grounds, appreciating the natural sights and sounds, and returning refreshed to her job delivering specialist patient care.

Trinity’s two acre gardens are an important space for staff, patients, volunteers and visitors to enjoy. They are open all year round and maintained by a gardener and a team of dedicated volunteers.

The gardens have been opened to the public to visit and enjoy multiple times a year for many years as part of the National Open Garden Scheme. Dates for 2023 open garden days are in planning and will be announced next year. Keep an eye on our events page here for updates.
