Royal Trinity Hospice has partnered with Derby College to offer NVQ qualifications to volunteers in its chain of charity shops.

Trinity volunteers will now be able to achieve qualifications in retail, customer service and team leading. The scheme will enable Trinity volunteers to gain vital skills which increase workplace confidence and encourage employability.

Trinity’s Retail Volunteering Manager Gina Kerr said, ‘Lots of people volunteer with us for different reasons, and this allows those who are gaining meaningful retail experience in the hope of securing paid employment the chance to further enhance their CV. We’re really proud that our shops can act as places which enable people to take the first step in their retail career.’

The opportunity is open to current volunteers as well as new volunteers. Participants in the scheme will need to commit a minimum of 15 hours per week to qualify. You can find out more information about gaining an NVQ in Trinity’s shops here.
