Royal Trinity Hospice has been shortlisted for a Nursing Times Workforce Award in the Best Diversity and Inclusion Practice category. The project shortlisted is “Welcoming FREDIE”, which sees Trinity continue to champion and promote equality and diversity for patients and staff (“FREDIE” stands for fairness, respect, equality, diversity, inclusion and engagement).

The Nursing Times Workforce Awards showcase excellence across 14 categories, highlighting innovations in workforce planning and management which contribute to sustaining an excellent nursing workforce.

The nominated project, “Welcoming FREDIE” was introduced to ensure Trinity continues to recruit and retain excellent staff, building an organisational culture which provides outstanding care and encourages the best from its workforce. The project aims to embed the values of FREDIE across the organisation, building an environment and culture where staff can be the best version of themselves without fear of discrimination.

Dallas Pounds, Trinity’s Chief Executive, said:

I am delighted that Trinity has been shortlisted for this award. Challenging and overcoming barriers to equality, diversity and inclusion across everything we do and treating our staff with fairness and respect, is a key element of our mission. I am proud that we are leading the way in embedding excellent FREDIE practice and that all our staff and volunteers feel encouraged to bring their best selves to work.
