"Trinity is truly a special place that can give you the best moments in the worst scenario..."

My name is Rob, and my partner Laura was a patient at Trinity. I wanted to share a few thoughts about the incredible care we received.

In 2018 Laura and I were spending our lives in various medical centres and hospitals. Before walking into Trinity, it’s safe to say we were pretty dejected, but straight away, we were greeted with the most personable, adaptable and nurturing care.

Laura was performing throughout her illness and the continuation of these moments was extremely important to all of us. It must have been quite the surprise, that upon arriving we told nurses we would need to leave at around 6pm because Laura was conducting a choir concert that very evening!

The standard of care was second to none; each member of staff made such an effort to get to know us all.

It never felt like an intrusion, and we started to see staff like friends. We would spend time catching up and chatting while they completed their crucial tasks to support Laura. On the nights when Laura slept there alone, this was a real relief for all of us.

Laura died surrounded by friends and family in a room that we had made her own. A room filled with moments of companionship, of laughing and joy but most of all a room full of care and love when she needed it the most.

After the excellent care that Trinity afforded Laura, it was now my turn for them to look after me. I had lost the focus of my life and struggled to come to terms with what had happened. I was referred to Trinity’s counselling team whose care and guidance helped me when I needed it the most.

Please support the Spring Appeal and help Trinity make more moments that matter for people like me and Laura.
