Book volunteer

At Royal Trinity Hospice we are passionate about sustainability. Last year we saved 350,000 items from landfill, whilst also raising funds to support the work that we do.

What does a book volunteer do?

We regularly receive donations of books from private donors and some of our corporate partners.

We are looking for volunteers to help sort and scan these books, ready for them to be sent to third party book sellers, and to research some of the more valuable and collectable books.

How much time will I need to commit?

This role is flexible and can fit in around your existing commitments. We are currently looking for volunteers who can give half a day a week.

Volunteering sessions can take place between 9am and 5pm, Monday – Friday.

What are we looking for?

  • An interest in books
  • The ability to use basic computer functions
  • Enthusiasm and motivation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own
  • A commitment to abide by Trinity’s policies and procedures

Each appropriate applicant will be asked to attend an informal interview. If successful, we will then take up two references and you will required to complete some online training before get started.

We do not want you to be out of pocket through volunteering. We will reimburse reasonable travel expenses where relevant.
