Salary: £73,934 - £85,158 pa including London weighting

Hours: 37.5 hours (full time, part-time option available)

The role of Director of People is a critical leadership position within the organisation and, as a key member of the Hospice Executive team, will lead the implementation of the People Plan for the ~350 staff and ~400 volunteers for Royal Trinity Hospice and Trinity Hospice Shops Ltd. 

In conjunction with Executive team and Trustee colleagues, the Director of People will be responsible for developing an organisational culture which is inclusive, empowering, and promotes a common understanding of strategic objectives to deliver positive and sustainable change. Trinity is a leader in the sector for promoting equality, diversity and inclusion through our FREDIE work and this role will champion this activity across the organisation.

The candidate

  • Senior people professional with experience across all facets of HR.
  • Previous experience of building effective relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Proven experience of thinking strategically and analysing issues to identify and implement creative solutions.
  • Credible and confident, possessing the presence as well as the depth of HR experience to inspire and drive change.
  • Knowledge of pay and rewards systems, and job evaluation.
  • Experience of successfully championing change to promote equality, diversity and inclusion.

Overall purpose of the role

  • As a key member of the Hospice Executive team, to lead and ensure the implementation of the People Plan for staff and volunteers for Royal Trinity Hospice and Trinity Hospice Shops Ltd.
  • To provide strong corporate leadership, individually and as a member of the Executive team, contributing to key decisions, policy development and strategy.
  • To ensure the operation of high performing HR & OD functions for both Royal Trinity Hospice and Trinity Hospice Shops Ltd, providing responsive and supportive advice to managers and employees throughout the organisation.
  • In conjunction with Executive team and Trustee colleagues, develop an organisational culture which is inclusive, empowering, promotes a common understanding of strategic objectives and delivers positive and sustainable change.
  • To support the ongoing engagement of volunteers working within Royal Trinity Hospice, and continue to ensure volunteering is accessible to all members of the local community.
  • Provide reporting, analysis and assurance to the Board and its sub-committees on all aspects of Trinity's People Plan and risk management.
  • To be a role model, living and demonstrating Trinity's values and behaviours in all aspects of organisational life.
