Salary: £24,322 – £25,499

If so, we would love to hear from you.  We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic gardener to lead our team of gardening volunteers in growing and developing our hospice garden.

Royal Trinity Hospice is England’s oldest hospice, providing compassionate end of life care to people in central and south west London, at their homes and in the hospice in Clapham.

The hospice is set in 3.5 acres of landscaped gardens based on designs by Lanning Roper, which are maintained by a full time gardener and a team of enthusiastic garden volunteers.  The garden provides a place of calm and peace for our patients and their families, and for staff and volunteers working at the hospice.  We also open the garden to our community and regularly participate in NGS Open Garden Days.  The garden has been a regular winner of the Hospice plate awarded by The London Garden Society.

About the role

  • Developing, enhancing and conserving Royal Trinity Hospice’s historic and award-winning gardens to a high standard;
  • Leading and developing Trinity’s volunteer gardening team;
  • Interacting with visitors, patients and families, answering questions about the garden and sharing horticultural knowledge and

The successful candidate will

  • have an RHS Level 3 horticultural qualification or equivalent experience and a good knowledge of plant husbandry, horticultural techniques and plant identification;
  • be an excellent communicator, able to motivate and support volunteers and build relationships across the organisation;
  • be passionate about gardens and about instilling that passion in others;
  • be confident imparting your own knowledge and expertise and a willing ambassador when it comes to showing the garden for visits, corporate events or Open Garden Days.
