Last night saw the triumphant Trinity gardening team taking home three (and a half!) impressive prizes at the London Garden Society Awards.

The London Garden Society is a registered charity that has been established for over 100 years, their event takes place annually at London’s Guildhall and celebrates contributions to beautifying the city’s gardens, squares and horticultural displays.

This year Trinity received a gold medal for their large garden, silver for their small garden, and bronze for their patio area. The successes in these categories also lead to Trinity achieving a tied win with St. Francis Hospice for the London Hospice Garden Silver Plate, awarded for the best overall hospice garden in London.

Mark Barling, Trinity’s head of facilities said, “We are so proud of our wonderful volunteers, and our gardener Terry, who put so much hard work and care into keeping Trinity’s grounds looking beautiful throughout the seasons.

These awards mean so much to our team as they recognise the importance of creating a pleasant and peaceful space for our patients and visitors to enjoy. We look forward to welcoming new and old faces to our garden over the coming year.”

The gardening team at Trinity includes head gardener Terry Slater, and 16 dedicated volunteers. The garden spans two 2 acres of land and includes an ornamental garden comprised of mixed shrub boarders, lawns, ponds, meadow areas and sculptures. The gardens and cafe are available for patients and visitors to enjoy all year round, and are often host to seasonal hospice parties and events.
