Key responsibilities

  • Assisting patients on the minibus taking them to and from home and Trinity
  • With the Minibus Driver, to assist patients in and out of their home
  • Assisting the Minibus Driver if a patient becomes unwell during the journey
  • Feeding back relevant information from patients to the Driver or Outpatient Co-ordinator
  • Comply with all health and safety travel procedures

 

Requirements and recommendations

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and comply with all health and safety procedures
  • Well organised, enthusiastic and self-motivated
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Trustworthy and reliable
  • Understanding of the boundaries within the role of a volunteer
  • Commitment (hours/week): 4+ hours/week Monday to Friday (9.00am-4.30pm), especially on Monday's during in term time

In return, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills or learn new skills. You will be asked to attend an induction and a training programme before you start as a volunteer.

Mandatory Training

All volunteers must attend a full day induction and complete four hours online e-learning. The volunteer induction covers communication skills, dealing with grief and loss, wheelchair skills, mobility, Dementia awareness and all the necessary information a volunteer needs prior to undertaking their role.

Once the above training has been completed volunteers will be given a start date to begin their role
