Salary: £27,242 - £29,172
Hours: 37.5 per week; Monday – Friday
Location: Balham, London
Reporting to: Head of Retail

Royal Trinity Hospice is England’s oldest hospice, providing compassionate end of life care to people at our inpatient centre and supporting patients and families in the community across seven London boroughs. A valued charity, the hospice makes a difference to the lives of thousands of people with a life limiting condition.

You will be joining at an exciting time when Trinity’s retail operations matter more than ever. Our shops are instrumental in providing a sustainable source of income to support the work of the hospice, and we need motivated, forward thinking people to make this happen and be a part of our ambitious plans.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Retail, you will have responsibility for all aspects of volunteering in retail. A key element of the role will be to support the Retail Management team in driving the retail strategy which sets out to challenge the clichéd definition of a charity retail volunteer by providing a rich and fulfilling experience for anyone supporting our shops and Retail Head Office in a voluntary capacity.

A principal focus of the role will be on developing a recruitment programme that helps us realise our strategic ambition of doubling our volunteer workforce over the next three years.  The post holder will be expected to introduce substantive and sustainable improvements in recruitment methods, exploring opportunities with placement providers and volunteer schemes as well as expanding the range and involvement of corporate volunteering opportunities.

You will work across our diverse and ambitious retail division and be responsible for ensuring that our volunteers are better informed and trained where necessary to equip them in their ‘frontline’ relationships with our supporters.  Working with our Learning and Development Lead, you will develop a comprehensive training programme for volunteers, including NVQ opportunities, as well as helping develop management skills in order to maximise the contribution of volunteers in a retail environment.  The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering outstanding results in a volunteer management role.

We want an exceptional Retail Volunteer Manager who exemplifies and champions our values: excellence; compassion; inspire; integrity; innovation; and leadership.

Benefits of working at Trinity

  • 25 days holiday rising to 27 days after 2 years plus Bank Holidays (working a bank holiday results in a day in lieu)
  • Group personal pension scheme
  • A non-contributory life assurance scheme
  • Store discount
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Childcare vouchers
