Bill is a volunteer for Trinity's Online Boutique. He talks about how he got into volunteering and why he thinks it has helped him in his retirement.

What motivated you to apply to be a Trinity volunteer?

I was motivated to volunteer for a hospice as I had a family history of losing people to cancer and so it was something close to my heart.

What attracted you to your current role?

Initially, I volunteered in one of the shops which I enjoyed, but when I noticed a vacancy for an office based volunteer, I felt like it could better put my existing skills to good use. I saw it as a chance to help out by using the skills I had developed throughout my career.

What do you enjoy most about being a Trinity volunteer?

I enjoy the variety of things that I work on within the E-Commerce team- I help with data input, organising the stockroom and have even modelled some of the menswear! As someone who is retired, the flexibility that volunteering offers really suits me.

Are there any aspects of volunteering you find challenging?

I don’t feel like any of the challenges that I face are insurmountable and I enjoy that I am still learning new things in my retirement.

What benefits has volunteering brought to your life?

Volunteering feels like it has extended my life after work and simply been a continuation of my career. It’s something I really enjoy- I wouldn’t keep coming if I didn’t like it so much. I would recommend volunteering to other retirees.
