Shop Volunteer Stories - Lizzie Lizzie is a volunteer at Trinity's Bellevue Road shop in Wandsworth. She talks about how she got into volunteering and why she enjoys helping in a shop. What motivated you to apply to be a Trinity volunteer? I was very aware of the amazing work that Royal Trinity Hospice does and I had attended some Trinity events and always been moved by the speakers at them. What attracted you to your current role? I really wanted to help out Trinity, but felt that a volunteer role at the hospice would be very emotionally charged and wasn’t sure if this was where I would be best suited. The shops were one step removed from the front line and so were a good fit in terms of what I could commit and the work I would be doing. What does your volunteering role involve? I help with all aspects of running the shop- pricing clothes, working on the till, rotating stock and merchandising. Another important part of the role is just taking the time to talk to customers and donors, a lot of whom are older and have a very personal connection with Trinity. What do you enjoy most about volunteering at Trinity? The team that I work with in the shop are just wonderful and lovely to spend time with. Dovile is a brilliant manager and so it just feels like a really lovely place to be.
