About the role

We are looking for volunteers to visit our shops and gather content, including photos and videos of our stock, displays and volunteer teams.

As a Social Media Volunteer you will have the opportunity to assist the Creative & Design Manager and Digital Communications Manager in establishing a new and growing brand across our shops which raise vital funds for Royal Trinity Hospice.

There is a large variety of tasks within this role and these will be given to the volunteer on a skills dependent basis. Training will be given to support the volunteer in social media content gathering.

This volunteer role would suit someone looking to develop creatively in a fashion and retail environment and gain experience in social media marketing.


Dates and times are to be agreed with our Creative & Design Manager in advance. 


The location is based in our retail office in Balham but time will be spent in our shops and sites across Central and South West London.

To be a successful candidate you will;

  • Have a love of social media and be able to gather interesting content
  • Be socially aware – especially around sustainability
  • Be able to commit to at least once a week
  • Be over 16 years old
  • Trustworthy and reliable
  • Have good communication skills
  • Be well presented
  • Be computer literate
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • Have respect for the policies of Royal Trinity Hospice
  • Be able to support the overall aim of Royal Trinity Hospice and to act as an ambassador for the hospice
  • Be a creative & visual person

Key responsibilities

  • Support the work of the Creative & Design Manager and Digital Communications Manager by producing regular, targeted and impactful content across our social media channels including Twitter and Instagram.
  • This will include photographing stock in a creative way
  • Explore opportunities to utilise innovative digital solutions that increase Trinity’s audience, improve engagement with our target demographics, and promote the organisation's wider goals. 

Skills and experience 

  • Experience using and interacting with social media
  • Photography
  • Experience of styling and merchandising
  • A pleasant manner, both face-to-face and on the telephone
  • Networking and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to treat with confidentiality any information which is personal, private or sensitive
