About the role:

Our corporate donations team is responsible for procuring donations of surplus stock from retailers, wholesalers and other businesses. By selling these items in our shops and online, it ensures that they are kept out of landfill and that they help to raise vital funds to support our work.

We are looking for volunteers to help organise, sort and pack this stock, ready for it to be sent out to our shops. This role is a great way to learn more about sustainable fashion and to give something back to the local community.

Key responsibilities of the role are:

  •  Sorting donations and making up stock packs according to the needs of each shop
  • Packaging items with special care
  • Monitoring inventory held and suggesting possible allocations for those donations
  • Maintaining a high level of tidiness and organisation
  • Assisting colleagues by completing reasonable tasks outside of role when required

Requirements and recommendations:

  • Dates and times to be agreed in advance with the corporate donations team
  • Applicants must be aged 18 and over
  • To be trustworthy, reliable and a great team player
  • To have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • To have an adequate level of physical fitness as some manual handling is required for the role
  • To have respect for Trinity’s policies and to act as an ambassador for the hospice
  • To have the ability to treat with confidentiality any information which is personal, private or sensitive

What the role can offer you:

  • The opportunity to develop your existing skills and learn new ones
  • Ongoing support and training where necessary
  • The opportunity to enhance your CV and meet new people
  • The opportunity to learn more about sustainable fashion and the charity sector
  • You will also be making a valuable contribution to Trinity and the thousands of people who use our services

Mandatory training:

  • Retail induction (including health and safety)
  • After interview, should applicants be successful, we will take up two references and expect candidates to complete some online training. Volunteers within the hospice may require a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check to be completed; this check will be carried out free of charge by Trinity.
