Hours: Full-time (37.5hrs/week), worked 5 out of 7 days (including weekends)

We are looking for a Cook to join our team at Royal Trinity Hospice. 

In this role you will plan produce and serve high quality, freshly made, nutritious and well-presented food and refreshments to meet the needs of patients, staff and visitors individual requirements in a safe well and well managed environment.

Royal Trinity Hospice is the oldest hospice in the country and has embarked on a new five-year strategy to transform our model of care to support even more people and their loved ones. This is an exciting time to be joining the organisation.

The overall purpose of this role

  • To create menus and meals to reflect the diversity of our patients, identifying allergens and costings for each recipe provided to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • To source high quality ingredients within budgetary constraints, preparing meals in a safe and clean environment.
  • To safely use equipment within the kitchen ensuring the equipment is used in line with safety and user guidance and well maintained.
  • To identify with patients their likes and dislikes to provide a quality customer service.
  • To understand and produce food for special diets including plant based, food intolerances/allergens, cultural and religious requirements.
  • To ensure meals are delivered and serviced appropriately, including relevant portion size to meet patient’s appetite and temperature of meals
  • To monitor stock levels and ensure appropriate rotation of stock and place orders with nominated suppliers.

  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft
  • Proven catering and cooking experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of dietary and nutritional needs of people in a care environment
  • Knowledge of health and safety and food safety rules and regulations including COSHH and HACCP

  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft
