Meet Trinity's Executive team

Emily Carter - Chief Executive

Emily has 15 years of leadership experience within the National Health Service. She was previously the Divisional Director of Operations for acute services at the Royal London Hospital and delivered the emergency care response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Emily has previously held senior operational roles at Kings College Hospital and national roles at NHS England. Emily took up her role as Chief Executive of Royal Trinity Hospice in December 2021.

Dr Sam Lund - Medical Director

Sam is a consultant in palliative medicine and the Medical Director at Trinity. She is also a visiting senior lecturer within the Cicely Saunders Institute (Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care) at King’s College London.

Sam undertook her palliative medicine training across London and Surrey, earning a Master’s degree with distinction in the Ethics of Cancer and Palliative Care. Her professional interests focus on understanding the barriers to accessing palliative and hospice care, increasing research activity in the hospice setting and compassionate leadership. Within ethics, Sam’s interests include the ethical challenges of advance care planning and how best to engage a wider audience, including non-clinicians, in recognising, understanding and meeting the ethical challenges in everyday healthcare.

Anthony Davison-Kieras - Director of Fundraising

Anthony has years of experience in corporate partnerships, major donor work, approaching grant makers and helping to build successful supporter relationships. Following an early career in banking in New Zealand, Australia and the UK, Anthony went on to work with The British Lung Foundation, creating new revenue streams including corporate partnerships. He spent 3 years as the National Partnerships Manager for St John Ambulance where he developed new corporate partners, significant trust and statutory funding and innovative new income streams.

Theresa Ekendu - Director of People

Theresa brings a wealth of experience from her diverse background in the private, charity and public sectors. She joins Trinity with an 11 year tenure in the NHS where she worked across mental health, community and acute settings. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Theresa previously served as the Deputy Chief of People and Culture at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. Additionally, she was the Head of HR Operations at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. In these roles, Theresa successfully implemented several change programmes and initiatives which had meaningful impact, particularly in enhancing employee health and wellbeing, as well as improving the quality of patient care and experience.

Theresa is dedicated to ensuring that a strong focus on employee wellbeing and development translates into exceptional patient care and experience.

Andrew Keen - Director of Retail

Andy joined Trinity in 2020 after spending 25 years working in commercial retail including 16 years with House of Fraser.

In his time at Trinity, Andy has held the roles of Head of Retail sales and Deputy Retail Director and has been a key part of the success of our retail operation over the last four years. Over the last four years, Andy has been keen to make Trinity an employer of choice with a focus on developing our own teams and promoting from within.

Stephen Hooper - Director of Finance and Resources

Stephen has 18 years of experience in financial and leadership roles in the charity sector. He was previously the Finance Director at Parkinson's UK, supporting it through the pandemic and gearing it up to relaunch its strategy earlier this year. He is an ACCA-qualified accountant with a keen interest in sports and travel.

Isatta Sisay Director of Patient Services Royal Trinity Hospice

Isatta Sisay - Director of Patient Services and Chief Nurse

Isatta has over 20 years of oncology and specialist palliative experience in the NHS. She joined Trinity 17 years ago as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and has most recently provided leadership within community nursing as Head of Clinical Operations. Isatta’ s special areas of interest are high-level service delivery and implementation of new services.

Isatta has worked on projects including widening Trinity's reach to the homeless population and most recently integrating the Wandsworth End of Life Care Coordination Service into our core community services offer. Isatta became Director of Patient Services in March 2023.
