  • Compassionate Neighbours in central and south west London

Compassionate Neighbours in central and south west London

Compassionate Neighbours is a social movement consisting of many different hospices, which helps to tackle the loneliness and isolation that many people face towards the end of life due to age or illness.

We train local people to become Compassionate Neighbours and then introduce them to someone living close by who could do with some support. Through this match we hope that a real life, reciprocal friendship grows which enriches the lives of both people, increasing social connections and sparking positive ripple effects.

  • 100% of the people we have matched with a Compassionate Neighbour say that participation in the project has been a positive experience

  • 100% of people matched with a Compassionate Neighbour feel less lonely after six months

  • People who are matched tell us they appreciate the opportunity to talk to and be listened to and that they have a sense of connection and understanding

We accept referrals to Compassionate Neighbours for both those currently in receipt of Trinity's care and those who are not but who live in our catchment area.

For people to be matched with a Compassionate Neighbour they must meet our referral criteria:

- They live within our catchment area or their GP is located in our catchment area
- They are in the later stages of life due to age or illness
- They are lonely and/or isolated

If you have any questions about the project or making a referral, please contact the Community Engagement team on [email protected] or 020 7787 1000.

Interested in becoming a Compassionate Neighbour volunteer?

We are open to applications from people who live within our catchment area. We are particularly seeking new Compassionate Neighbours in Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster  and potential volunteers in these locations will be prioritised in our next training group (April 2026).
