Working in the hospice

How we’ll look after you when you come to work at Trinity

From clinical to clerical, pharmacy to physio, retail to reception, every person matters at Trinity.

By coming to work with us you’ll be joining a welcoming, friendly, inclusive and dedicated team. We are united in our passion for caring for others and commitment to excellence. No matter what role you are in, your work will ultimately contribute to our patients and their loved ones receiving the best quality care.

We might be the oldest hospice in the country, but we also like to think we’re one of the most forward-thinking. We are ambitious to be leaders in the hospice sector, not only as a provider of care but as an employer, and a charity to shop with, volunteer and fundraise for.

It’s part of our mission to be true to our values and a good employer. It’s important for us to make sure our staff and volunteers are supported and encouraged to achieve their potential.

Here are some of the benefits of working for Royal Trinity Hospice:

  • We match Agenda for Change/NHS terms and conditions for maternity, paternity and long-term sickness pay
  • Length of service for those joining directly from another CQC regulated organisation (NHS, social care, hospice) is recognised in annual leave, maternity, paternity and long-term sickness pay
  • A pension scheme is offered with employer contributions of up to 7.5% or a continuation of your existing NHS pension
  • A generous 27 days annual leave increasing to 29 after 5 years and 33 days after 10 years, plus bank holidays (any bank holidays worked will be given back in lieu)
  • For Inpatient Unit Staff Nurse roles (Band 5) we offer a ‘Welcome to Trinity’ gift of £1,000 with your first pay packet and a further £1,000 upon successful completion of your probation/confirmation of your post.

  • Free eyesight test for DSE users and a contribution towards the cost of glasses
  • 25% store discount in Trinity shops

In 2019 we were awarded the highest possible quality rating – Outstanding – by the Care Quality Commission
  • Our annual Long Service Awards celebrate 10, 20 and 30 years’ service (currently 45% of staff have been at Trinity for more than 3 years, of whom 13% have stayed at Trinity for ten years or more)
