About the role:

Our volunteers support our Shop Managers in every aspect of our shops, from providing excellent customer service to stock research. We rely entirely on the generosity of our donors, for this reason, we always go the extra mile to ensure the right value goes on to our unique pieces.  

Location: various locations at our shops across central and south west London

Key responsibilities of the role are:

  • To provide excellent customer service
  • Using a touch screen till
  • Receiving donations, sorting and preparing stock to sell
  • Processing Gift Aid and encouraging new Gift Aid donors
  • Visual merchandising
  • Maintaining shop floor standards
  • To keep the shop clean and tidy
  • To act as an ambassador for the hospice at all times and be able to talk about the work of the hospice

Requirements and recommendations:

  • Dates and times are to be agreed in advance with the Shop Manager.
  • Applicants must be aged 16 and over
  • To be trustworthy, reliable and a great team player
  • To have great customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
  • To be well presented
  • To have good literacy and numeracy skills including the ability to handle money
  • To have a good level of physical fitness
  • To have respect for Trinity's policies and to act as an ambassador for the hospice
  • To have the ability to treat with confidentiality any information which is personal, private or sensitive

Mandatory training:

  • Gift Aid training
  • Retail Induction (health and safety; customer service; till training; stock)
  • After interview, should applicants be successful, we will take up two references and expect candidates to complete some online training followed by a day induction. Volunteers within the hospice may require a DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check completed; this check will be carried out free of charge by Trinity.
