We spoke to Tim about volunteering with Trinity and what he enjoys most about his role:

Why did you start volunteering with Trinity?

I’ve been volunteering with Trinity for over 10 years, it’s probably even as long as 13 years now! My wife was a bereavement support volunteer at Trinity a number of years ago and I always thought I would volunteer here too if I could. I originally planned to help as a patient driver, but there wasn’t a vacancy when I applied, so they suggested the ward volunteer role instead.

Can you explain a bit about what you do in your volunteer role?

I’m a ward mealtime volunteer and it involves taking meal orders from our patients and then giving the orders to the kitchen team. The team then prepare the meals and I deliver them to the patients.

What do you enjoy about your role?

When a patient or their family express that they’re happy with what’s been done for them today, you go home feeling that you did something useful.

What do you say to someone who is thinking about volunteering with Trinity?

Do it! Everyone here is very warm, friendly and welcoming and you’ll get a lot of satisfaction from it.
