Bereavement support The care and support that we offer a patient's family and friends is not over once their loved one has died. Our Bereavement team is on hand to support family members, friends, children and carers through the emotional impact of grief. There is no time limit for this support. Understanding and coping with bereavement can be very difficult for children and young people. This is why we offer bereavement support specifically for them. We also provide guidance to parents and carers on how to explain death and grief to children and offer advice to help families and teachers support a child or young person through this experience. The Bereavement team also organises events throughout the year that allow bereaved families, friends, and carers to remember, celebrate and reflect upon the lives of those who have died. To find out more about any of our bereavement services, please contact the Bereavement team on 020 7787 1062 (Mon-Fri, 9am to 5pm). If you need support outside these times, the Samaritans are experienced in listening to people whatever they’re going through. They are available to help you 24 hours a day and you can call them for free on 116 123.
