Last week, members of our Retail team attended the annual Charity Retail Conference in Harrogate. This year the conference focussed on People First retail, and we were delighted to see and meet many of our friends across the charity retail space for discussions, learning and networking.

A regular feature of the CRA conference is the Charity Retail Awards, and we are pleased to announce that we won the Environmental and Sustainability Award for our Sustainable 7 programme!

 Sustainable 7

In 2022, we launched our ‘Sustainable 7’ plan to ensure that our charity shops are being as sustainable as possible, both front of house in our shops and in our operations too. We identified 7 key areas to focus on:

• transportation
• procurement
• waste
• reuse and recycling
• printing
• utilities
• people

Within each category there are different priorities to focus on to ensure that sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We know our customers shop with us because they have a desire to shop sustainably, so we have published this new plan to be as transparent as possible in our journey to becoming ‘London’s answer to sustainable fashion’.
