In 2020, we had the privilege of hosting a truly heart-warming wedding in our Mulberry Room for Moira and patient How, who was receiving care here at the hospice, in our inpatient unit.

How and Moira on their wedding day

“With less than 24 hours notice, you were able to arrange for a florist to beautifully decorate your wonderful Garden Room, including providing a bouquet for me to hold and button hole for How. You even brought a cake and acted as our photographers too. You really made the day feel special and gave us some precious memories that will love on in my heart forever” - Moira.

Moira recently came to visit the hospice, three years after the death of her husband, and donated over £29,000. She also wrote a heart-felt thank you note to everyone at Royal Trinity Hospice explaining what amazing care we gave to How, Moira and their family.

“One of the most poignant moments that I think back to was just after How has passed, and the way that one of the care staff on duty opened the window in How’s room so that ‘his spirit could wander the garden’ which is exactly what he would have wanted to do.” - from Moira’s note.

We would like to say a massive thank you to Moira for donating this incredible amount. It was a privilege to care for How and to help you celebrate your wedding here at Trinity.
